Coenson Me & Bobby McGee cover

CHAD COENSON -- Speculative Fiction/Thriller/Satire
Hillsboro, OR
Winner of the Silver Medal at the 2011 Independent Publisher Book Awards for best Regional Fiction in the West-Pacific, Me and Bobby McGee is an unabashed American satire that cynically celebrates the lunacy of modern civilization. It incorporates aspects of the thriller
genre to take readers on a fast-paced journey through a horrifying but hilarious reality, complete with "more-than-classified" global secrets and compassionate crimes against humanity. By using the catalyst of an illicit and appalling cure for laziness, the novel playfully explores a host of humanistic issues such as: economic stability, human commoditization,
apathy and indifference, greed, and how selfish desires tend to supersede what is best for collective society. At the helm of this absurd adventure is Keesey Cypher, a former CIA assassin turned professional drunk with a penchant for games of chance, a disposition of detachment, and a priceless collection of vices.

GUARDINO cover BeatlesGUARDINO cover Psychic

BARBARA GUARDINO -- Historical fiction
Portland, OR
How I Met The Beatles (And How They Broke My Heart) -- The story takes place during the British Invasion in 1964. It is a fictitious account of a real issue that today's kids face--idol worship in the entertainment industry. It is meant to appeal both to Christian and secular audiences, and to adults and children in order to precipitate inter-generational discussions. It also contains a multicultural element, as the Casey family form friendships with a Hispanic-American family.
Redemption of a Psychic -- As the world economic crisis deepens, psychics are having a heyday predicting the future. Some of them will actually be accurate. But how do you tell whether a psychic is for real? At least one world famous clairvoyant, David Marius Guardino, will not be making predictions this year; he died on May 10, 2007. David was my son. More important, he was a fraud. And David’s family has produced a book to set the record straight. My Son, My Son, Redemption of a Psychic, recounts David’s sordid career, and the destructive effect his flamboyant Las Vegas lifestyle had on others, especially members of my family. It also delivers a message of hope to people who are lost in the world of the occult--as I was for many years--that the Lord Jesus Christ is waiting to heal us all.

Hendrix Immortal Champion cover

LISA HENDRIX -- Paranormal historical romance
Southern Oregon

Lisa Hendrix fell in love for the first time at age 10 (with both of the Men from U.N.C.L.E., for those of you who remember that far back) and has been fascinated by the whole concept of love ever since. That interest led her naturally enough to reading romance novels, and then
to writing them--which, coincidentally, put her in a hotel elevator with Robert Vaughn at an RWA conference. Still waiting for that equally serendipitous encounter with David McCallum, she is now working on an extended series about a crew of cursed Viking raiders. The first two, IMMORTAL WARRIOR and IMMORTAL OUTLAW were published by Berkley Books in 2008 and 2009. IMMORTAL CHAMPION and a fourth unnamed book will hit the shelves in 2011.
